Double Podium as RCPB take 1st and 3rd at Nitroxcross

This weekend was the first of the winter series of Nitro X Cross and the RCPB team were out in force, Matt Box, Alex Page, Andy Prosser, Milan Dragojlovic, Steve Shakespeare, Chris Lovell, Gary Gregory and Simon Davies all representing the team.
The venue for the first round was East Shrewsbury Buggy Racing Club (ESBRC) pictured above and their new facility, currently a grass track with a few wooden jumps, but with prospects of dirt and Astro tracks in the pipeline, this venue is one for the future. Well done to Bryn Pound and all at the club for their hard work to get the track and the venue up to a race-able standard, and “Old Skool” grass making the tyre choice and set ups harder for even the top boys in the field.
Qualifying saw Milan TQ one round and end up 2nd on the grid for the final, a great drive by Milan especially with it being his first time out with the new Kyosho MP9/Nova Rossi combo/werks fuel. 4 RCPB drivers made it straight into the A Final, Matt and Alex just getting in with Steve starting 6th on the Grid.
Gary made the B final after only finishing 2 rounds of qualifying and made a good start but unfortunatly he had an issue and had to retire, the same for Andy in the E final, looking good all through qualifying taking advantage of the upgrades to his Radiosistemi RR8 but having an issue in the warm up and unable to continue. Chris Lovell also ran nitro for the first time with his Mp9 and managed a very respectable 3rd in the C Final, still having a very new engine he pitted 2 times in the final but still finished 5th, he also ran electric (for those who have never run two classes at one event, it’s not for the faint hearted) and qualified 3rd. Well done , that’s a good/long days racing!
The A final had some great drivers in it and on paper was a very open final, Milan managed to guide his Mp9 into the lead, taking with him Matt Box, who ended up finishing 3rd. Fellow Kyosho runner Shakey finished 8th after a very good final (his car pictured above), with some good battles along the way and Alex finished 10th. Well done to all of the A finalist from RCPB, but huge well done to Milan (left on below photo) for taking the win and Matt (right on below photo) on his 3rd place. In other news from this weekend, Steve Ibbotson decided to dust off his 5th scale cars this weekend and yet again ended up going home with a trophy, taking 2nd in the Mini class after qualifying 3rd, his car pictured below.
Good start to the winter guys, lets keep it up!
