This weekend was round 5 of the Nitro X Cross winter series take place at Frankley Model Car Club. A good turnout of over 60 drivers in both Nitro and Electric saw for a very good days racing despite the typical British weather! RCPB was represented by Milan Dragojlovic, Matt Box, Alex Page, Ben Billing, Simon White, Shaun Stenson, Simon Davies and Gary Gregory and Simeon White.
Qualifying in Nitro was dominated by Milan Dragojlovic and his Ninja powered Kyosho Mp9, who took TQ in every round with the rest of the field squabbling to take the best places behind him. His MP9 looked dialled with the Beta lexan wing, he was going to take some catching and even with a very strong field of racers at the event. Ben was the next placed RCPB driver and qualified a great 7th with his Nova Rossi/Sworks Combo. Alex and Simon White also had a great day qualifying 10th-11th respectively with Matt just behind in 15th despite having a great first run taking 8th in round. Matt was going to line up 4th in the B with RCPB team mate Shaun in 11th. Gary running his Radiosistemi’s in both classes and his nitro pictured below, managed a C final qualification of 7th on the grid and Simon Davies took Pole in the D final with his Radiosistemi and young gun Simeon White lining up 9th behind him with his fine looking Mugen.

In Electric Gary Gregory debuted with his E-buggy in nitroxcross, and he looked very good indeed showing some decent pace – he had to miss some qualifying with some issues – those who run 2 classes know how hard it is! He lined up 9th.
Onto the finals and In the Nitro Class and the D Final, Simon had an uncharacteristic issue and had to retire but Simeon managed to gain a few places and with some great driving and great overtaking he took home6th place as the buzzer went. Another good solid drive by the young Mugen Driver! The C Final was next and it was Gary’s turn to make up some places coming in 5th and narrowly missing the bump. The B final had some very good drivers and after an error on the first Lap Team boss Matt Box managed to claw his way back through the field from to take the win by a lap over Gareth Oldfield and Dan Workman. Matts MP9 pictured in full flow below.

Onto the A Final and once again domination from Milan who lead from start to finish – he is pictured below with his MP9. Ben and Alex were battling in the strong mid-field of the race and managed to battle to 7th and 10th respectively. Simon and Matt finished 13th and 14th.
Onto Gary and his Electric final – he had a great start and showed some good pace, and managed a very fine 4th over the line. A great start to E-buggy.
Over at Coastal model car club we had George Miller and his 2wd Sworks 1/10th buggy, he had a great day taking 2nd overall in the class. Good drive George!
Next week we are back trackside at the SWIS and a lot of the RCPB guys and gals will be racing elsewhere. Remember all the cars and kit that all the RCPB drivers use is available from RCPB and if you have a question or query please get in touch we will be happy to help. EAT, SLEEP,RACE ,REPEAT!!!!
