Another TQ and Win for RCPB
Posted by Jules exall on
This weekend saw the Popular Nitro X Cross Winter series at the Ledbury Astro Track. Although there was persistent rain all week, Nathan Powney and the crew did a fantastic job of getting the track in a race-able condition and even entertained the campers with fireworks on the Saturday evening. The Day started with a moments silence for remembrance Sunday – a nice touch and ended with a Bang! (Quite Literally.)
Once again the RCPB Team were out in force, Milan Dragojlovic was unstoppable and with his MP9/Nova Rossi/Werks fuel combo took every round of qualifying and the TQ for the day. He was however not the only RCPB driver having a good day, with Ben Billing and Matt Box (car pictured below) both having good runs and pushing well up the A-final field. Alex Page and Steve Shakespeare also managing some decent times both with running the MP9/Reds Evoke combo and firmly made the B final but just pipped in by Simon White who just made the A . Simeon White also had a brilliant drive and managed to cement a decent D final slot with his fine looking Mugen and Andy Prosser and his RR8/Bullett Combo did a fine job and managed the D also.
Chris Lovell running both electric and nitro managed a very good B final place and a very good 3rd in the E Buggy class. As usually a very good set of qualifiers from Chris – running MP9’s in both classes, and doing a very good job at swapping between the two. Simon Davies also had a good day making the C final!
The finals came round and the Bad weather looked like it was going to return but first out Simeon and Andy, in the D, were not bother by it and had a great race battle, Andy coming out on top again this week taking 5th by a few seconds over Simeon just a few seconds behind him in 6th. Great pitting again from Julie Lowe and Si White to make it a really interesting race for the two guys – this is a battle that will go on all season I’m sure of it. Andy car is pictured below - warming up for his final.
In the C final we had Simon Davies ruuning his Sworkz and really getting to grips with it in the conditions, finishing in a very respectable 9th.
In the B we had Shakey/Alex and Chris Lovell, the battle of the Kyosho's! And it was a good race. Steve and Alex ended up out in the front battling for the bump and both came home with places in the A, Shakey managing the Win with Alex right behind him and Chris finishing his 2nd ever Nitro final a very good 8th.
So onto the A – and Milan/Matt/Ben/Alex and Steve were all gunning for the podium, Milan lead the race again from start to finish with an unbelievable run, finishing a lap up on the rest of the field with a fastest lap of 1 second quicker than the nearest rival. Another awesome Drive by Milan! Ben and Steve were battling for the last podium place and Ben managed to get it securing 3rd with Steve only a few seconds behind him and just missing out. A very good drive by Steve, who bumped up from the B, showing his real pace in the finals – better late than never! Matt Box after a bit of a shocking start managed a very good 9th with Simon just behind in 11th with his Mugen. Alex came home in 14th.
Another great days racing at Ledbury for all the guys above, Well done to you all. The day was topped off by more fireworks. Thanks to all the Nitro X Cross crew and of course all the Ledbury guys and gals for a great track-despite the weather.
Elsewhere for RCPB - George Miller managed a great day at Maritime Raceway taking the Win in the B final. And Steve Ibbotson's debut with Nitro at Deerdale managed one bumpup and just missing the second by one place, he was running the Tekno NB48.3 for the first time – so massive well done - car pictured below.
All the kit that our drivers run is available through RC-Pitbox. So remember our motto EAT,SLEEP,RACE,REPEAT. See you all trackside soon!
