End of Ralleycross Nationals 2015 Season

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend was Rd 5 and the last round of the 2015 Ralleycross Nationals, held at Slough. The team arrived safe and sound on Friday night and were full of enthusiasm for the weekend ahead. The Teams representatives at Slough were Team Boss Matt Box and fellow Radiosistemi RR8 driver Gary Gregory, Ben Billing and Alex Page both driving the Mugen MBX7r.

Saturday morning and the weather is overcast and the track looks good, with a slight change in the layout of the right-hand side jumps and back section since the previous national back here at the beginning of the summer.

Qualifying saw the guys all very close with the exception of Alex who had problems in a few rounds which put him back in the field of over 100 drivers. Matt, Ben and Gary getting some good times in on a couple of runs pushing them up the field. A few bobbles and need for a marshal in the nationals and you lose 10 places but the time on dirt last weekend showed as Ben put in some stunning drives to be top of the RCPB pack after quali but with the others hot on his tail.

This meant that Alex would be in the first final of the day on the Sunday, the B 1/64,and just to cheer everyone up the sun was now shining on the stunning track. Alex soon returned to winning ways, his Mugen MBX7r looking as good as it should round the brilliant sun-lit dirt track. He took the win and the bump into the B1/32 with a fine drive and finished 12th and with that brought an  end to his 2015 ralleycross nationals season. Great Season Alex!

Onto the B 1/16th which contained all 3 other RCPB drivers, racing together all the time at other venues obviously rubs off, Ben Billing starting on Pole, Matt Box 5th and Gary just behind him in 6th.  It was going to be interesting all being in the same final all stood together in the same final!

It was a flawless final for Ben who led the race from start to finish, taking the win and bump into the B1/8th. The below picture showing his mugen MBX7r with Bullitt 220 engine and proline rubber at full pelt, ready to sweep round the first corner as fast as possible. A fantastic win and great drive by Ben to take the best in show for RCPB this weekend.

Matt and Gary were racing close until Matt had a car failure and had to retire, Gary going on to finish a very respectable 9th. Well done to both drivers, both having fun with the RR8, Reds, Proline Combo.

All in all a good finish to the season for the Ralleycross team, onwards and upwards next year for the team and the drivers. Thanks to everyone in team RCBP for all your help, pitting and wrenching duties, with a big shout out to Andy Prosser and Julie Lowe for all there help and patients. When does the winter season start folks????
