RCPB hit the tracks all over the UK

This weekend saw lots of racing for the RCPB guys and gals all over the UK, both in 1/10th and 1/8th.
At Kidderminster we had Felix De Hamel and his 4wd Schumacher, and he did well. He qualified well on the fantastic track, and in a very strong field he qualified 9th and made into a very competitive A final. He went just as well in the finals and battled his way up to 5th place which he managed to maintain until the buzzer went. Great driving by Felix in a field of very good racers! Felix's car pictured below!
At Deerdale we had some of the 1/8th guys getting some track-time in preparation for the first BRCA 1/8th Nitro National up at Deerdale in a few weeks time. The track was tricky and in changeable conditions of sun, snow and wind it was going to be a very cold and challenging day for the guys. Representing RCPB we have Kong McKenzie, Milan Dragojlovic, Andy Prosser, Matt Box, Alex Page and Ben Billing. The guys were going to be mixing it with some of the UK’s best who were also getting some national practice in.
Matt Box unfortunately had issues and ended up at the back of the pack, Andy Prosser had some good rounds and showed he is nearly back up to pace with his RR8 and Alex and Ben also managed some impressive times. Ben and his Sworkz Evo 2 LE/Nova combination managing 23rd overall and Alex managed 30th with his Kyosho MP9/Reds Combo. Kong got his MBX7r/RC Concepts combo up to 19th and in the very strong field of racers - that was good going. Milan still in great form and loving his Ninja/Kyosho MP9 managed a fantastic 9th and straight in the A Final.
Matt and Andy were up first in the Finals and Andy had a great start, after some good steady driving managed 9th place. Matt battled with guys at the top of the final and although he showed brilliant pace with his sweet sounding Reds engine he just couldn’t make up all the places, but finished a decent 5th. Alex and Ben were up next in the C final. Alex got to grips with the tricky track and conditions and managed a good 10th place. Ben looked at home with his new LE Evo and showed his great pace throughout his final, only narrowly missing a bump finishing a fantastic 4th behind some very good drivers. Kong was next in the B final and he flew off the start line, an unfortunate incident meant he dropped back down the field but he caught his places back up and finished a very good 8th. His car looking dialled! It was Milan’s final time and his car didn’t look out of place in this very tough looking A final. He was competing very well when he had a issue and had to retire. Great drives by all the RCPB guys and more importantly some great practice for the upcoming national.
At Frankley Model Car Club it was the last and final round of their winter series and an end of an era as it was the last every meeting at this infamous midlands track. The club will be moving the track to a new venue so a good turnout if drivers turned out to race it one last time. RCPB was represented by Shaun Stenson, Rich Price and Gary Gregory, Simon Davies and Jon Griffiths. Simon and his RR8 had a good run in qualifying and got it in the B final, 12th. Gary was just ahead of Simon running his RR8 v2, and qualified 3rd in the B final. Shaun/Rich and Jon had some great runs in quail and all 3 got straight into the A final. Some quality times showed by RCPB new boy Rich Price and his XRAY, including a 2nd overall - pictured below!
Gary and Simon were up first in the B final and both had a flying start. Simon gained a few places and after a very steady drive went over the line 8th. Gary had a blinding race, battling out at the front of the pack and even managed to gain a place finishing 2nd and getting the bump to the A. Great drive lads. This meant that once again there were quite a few RCPB drivers in the A final. All the guys got off the line well and all managed to be competing with each other in the midfield. Shaun and Rich were on similar strategies and showed similar pace, Shaun finished a few seconds ahead of Rich, 6th and 7th respectively. Gary and Jon also had a good on track battle, with Gary taking the honours with a great 9th after the Bump and Jon 10th. Some really good close racing by all the RCPB guys! As it was the end of the series, some of the RCPB guys also managed some series Trophies. Ben Billing managed top place in the series, Shaun was 2nd. Shaun is pictured below receiving his trophy. Well done guys!
Down at Swindon we had Chris Lovell and his MBX7r Eco with his RC Concepts motor making its debut! And it didn’t disappoint, he qualified very well with 2nd overall and he went on to take a fine 2nd place in the A final. His MBX7r Eco looking great for the season ahead.
A great days racing for all of the RCPB guys and some great results on the day and in series! Next week is the last round of the Nitro X Cross series at Nene valley where we will be trackside for all of your RC needs.
